Themis

In this picture you see The Statue of Justice. The Statue of Justice is a female, Themis, to be exact the Greek Goddess of Law and Justice. She is blindfolded to represent that justice is not subject to influence. She is also raising a scale in her right hand, which represents the impartiality that justice is served. And in her left hand, which is replaced by a monsters claw, she  holds a sword that has the words “Capital Punishment” engraved on it.  The sword represents the power that is held by those making the decision.  The monster’s claw, meaning varies on the individual.
